It’s October, so it’s only natural that this month my Top 10 is about Monsters and Creepy Creatures in Fiction. These are my favourite, even though some haunted my dreams and gave me the creeps, I can appreaciate their awesomness.
10. Hollowgast, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children
They only become visible to the rest of us when they’re eating, Miss Peregrine had told me, which is to say, when it’s too late.
9. The Middengard Wyrm, A Court of Thorns and Roses
I mean, that Wyrm is just HORRIFIC.
8. Dracula, Dracula
This list wouldn’t have been complete without Stoker’s epic villain Dracula.
The last I saw of Count Dracula was his kissing his hand to me, with a red light of triumph in his eyes, and with a smile that Judas in hell might be proud of.
7. Corsai, This Savage Song
Corsai is by far my favorite of the three monsters in Victoria Schwab’s novel. So creepy.
6. Gollum vs. Smeagol, The Lord of the Rings
I don’t think I have to explain, here. This duo becomes so creepy when you realize it’s the same person battling two personalities.
The filthy little thieves. Where is it? Where is it? They stole it from us. My precious. Curse them, we hates them! It’s ours, it is, and we wants it!
5. Baby Voldemort, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
You heard that right. Adult Voldemort scared me all right, but THAT THING UNDER THE BENCH AT KING’S CROSS CREEPED ME OUT SO MUCH OH MY GOD.
It had the form of a small, naked child, curled on the ground, its skin raw and rough, flayed-looking, and it lay shuddering under a seat where it had been left, unwanted, stuffed out of sight, struggling for breath. He was afraid of it.
4. Red Death, The Masque of the Red Death
This is one of my favorite stories from Poe. A disease taking human form and crashing the ball? It’s AWESOME.
The figure was tall and gaunt, and shrouded from head to foot in the habiliments of the grave. The mask which concealed the visage was made so nearly to resemble the countenance of a stiffened corpse that the closest scrutiny must have had difficulty in detecting the cheat.
3. The Creepy Deadly Plants, Gemina
Okay, so I don’t remember if they had a name, and after several fruitless Google searches, I decided that what mattered is that I remembered how CREEPY and DEADLY they were.
2. The Giant Squid, 20, 000 Leagues under the Sea
BECAUSE IT’S A GIANT SQUID IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SEA I MEAN I WOULD SHIT MY PANTS NO JOKE.
1. Pennywise the Clown, IT
One of Stephen King’s novel had to appear on my list, am I right?
That’s it for me! What did you think of my list?
What are your favorite monsters and creepy creatures in fiction?
Let me know in the comments!
I haven’t read any of Stephen King’s books but I just saw the new IT movie and I totally agree with your choice to list Pennywise as the #1 monster…I’ve never been afraid of clowns before but that was just terrifying. It was the best scary movie I’ve seen in recent years!

Yeah, I’m a little ashamed to admit I haven’t read the book yet … hihi. This is according to the movie (terrifying!)
I’m reading my first King’s novel this month (The Shining) and so far I LOVE it!

I saw the original IT movie several years ago and holy flippin’ crap Pennywise FREAKED. ME. OUT. I refuse to read the book or see the new movie haha.
I’ve read Dracula this year and yes, he was devilish!
I hope to read the Lord of the Rings books – but I’m so much into my older classics right now that it’ll be a long while before I get to that lengthy series haha. I think I have a book of a few Poe horror stories, so I may read that next ( and it’ll be just in time for Halloween).

I think that the Hollowgast (hollows) are by far much more creepy than the others
