Hola fellow readers! I hope your year was filled with wonderful stories and amazing characters! (I know mine was!) I read a total of 48 books this year, and OH MY GOD it was torture to sit down and pick only 10 of my favorite ones because I read so many good books! (Honestly, I still have a migraine.)
Here they are:
10. How to be a Bawse, by Lilly Singh
Really inspiring and motivating.
9. Bone Gap, Laura Ruby
I never thought I would love magic realism THAT much. Beautiful novel. Book Discussion here!
8. A Monster Calls, Patrick Ness
I cried.
It was just, WOW.
7. The Hate U Give, Angie Thomas
Simply beautiful, and with an important message.
6. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, J.K. Rowling
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I’m so happy J.K. is writing more Harry Potter magic! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
5. Half Brother, Kenneth Oppel
OH MY OH MY. I want everybody to read this book. That little chimp was the cutest thing ever and I can’t believe some people treat them solely as scientific tools just writing this I want to cry again meeeeehhhhhhh. Book Discussion here!
4. A Court of Mist and Fury, Sarah J. Maas
Good Lord.
Gimme more Rhysand please.
Book Discussion of ACOTAR here!
3. Turtles All the Way Down, John Green
That is a masterpiece to my eyes. I couldn’t stop talking about it after reading it, so much that I not only wrote a Book Discussion post but also a Top 10 Quotes from this wonderful wonderful wonderful novel.
2. Seconds, Bryan Lee O’Malley
I read this graphic novel twice this year because AHHHHH it’s so captivating! I LOVED it.
1. The Grisha Verse, by Leigh Bardugo
Six of Crows, Crooked Kingdom, Shadow and Bone, Siege and Storm, Ruin and Rising.
It felt SO good to completely immerse myself in this magical world. It had been a while since a series hooked me that much and man, I need more of Kaz, and the Darkling, and Jesper and all my friends. I need my friends!
Book Discussion Six of Crows here!

42 is also really good! My highest was 62, but I’ve never been able to top that since haha. I really don,t understand how some people read over 100 books a year (!!!).
I wish you the same! Happy new year, Marica :)❤

I really enjoyed both ‘A Monster Calls’ and ‘Turtles All the Way Down.’ I myself have severe OCD so I’m starved for representation, I actually thought John Green did a really good job even though the main character’s situation is very different from mine. 🙂

Turtles All the Way Down was SO good! It really was amazingly done! I literally couldn’t put it down and I really want to reread it soon more slowly. There is definitely a need for that kind of representation, this is probably the only book I know figuring an MC with such a strong OCD.
