As you probably know, 2017 is Canada’s 150th anniversary, and I sure intend to travel through this beautiful country as much as I can. Here’s a few reasons why I think this year is probably the best year to do so.
1. Canada Day is going to be epic
The day–and night–of the 1st of July is obviously always full of celebrations, but for this year it’s sure to be an even bigger deal!
2. Free Admission Pass with Parks Canada
Yep. Parks Canada is giving free passes to access their national parks, and I promise to use mine as much as I can! (Going to Banff in June; can’t wait!) Get your pass here.
3. Niagara Falls 150 events
The city of Niagara Falls will host 150 events through the year. You can find out more here!
4. Montreal’s 375th anniversary
Not only is it Canada’s 150th, but it’s Montreal’s 375th as well! I mean, it is kind of a big deal, don’t you think? There will be a bunch of great stuff going on all the way to December. Check it out!
5. More concerts and festivals
If you don’t believe me yet when I say there will be loads and loads of things to do this year, check out this article, where 22 more shows through the country are presented.
There’s really no way to get bored this year!
Happy exploring everyone!
This post is SO useful! I’m going to Canada in June and didn’t know about all this things! I’m applying to the free admission parks now! Thank you so so much for sharing! 🙂

My birthday is on Canada Day, and I keep telling myself that I’ll go to Canada for one of my birthdays 🙂 I won’t have the money for it this year, but this would have been an excellent year to do so!
I look forward to your future posts on your Canada travels! 🙂

I’m going camping in Banff in July and I’m so excited. I don’t usually camp in the national parks because I don’t buy a pass, so I jumped on the opportunity to get a free pass this year

Me too, it’s a great opportunity! The annual pass usually costs 67$ per adult! 🙂

I wish I could say they were mine but I haven’t been to those places yet so they’re free pictures from the web! (Except the Basilic from Montreal, that’s mine 😉 )

I MUST get to some Canadian National Parks ASAP!!!! Do you have a favorite? And when would be the best time of year to go?

I haven’t done that many yet so it’s hard to have a favorite! But Banff and Jasper’s Parks are definitely the most popular in Canada, and for a reason; they are truly gorgeous. Best time to go in my opinion is June, since the weather isn’t too cold, (though it’s unpredictable all year long, it can snow anytime) and mostly because it’s not too crowdy. The busiest time of the year is from July to August, where you need to book much in advance. Also I really really want to do the Mingan Archipelago Reserve one day. 🙂

Going to Montreal for Canada Day!!! I have been to Montreal once before, but any recommendations are welcome. I wish I could have been there for the 375th. The pictures I have seen looked awesome.

That’s awesome! There are a lot of events going on around le Vieux-Port on Canada Day, and it’s all for free! So I’d definitely suggest that! More here: https://www.tripsavvy.com/montreal-canada-day-2391754
There are still a lot of celebrations happening for the 375th all year long, so you can still enjoy it! 🙂 http://www.375mtl.com/en/programming/ (You can filter your search with your dates.)
